The Santa Ynez Valley's Bicycle Movement
Santa Ynez Valley Spoke is dedicated to the advancement of better bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure here in our community. Our movement is a grassroots movement tasked with advocating for the improvement existing routes and Developing new bicycle, pedestrian and equestrian paths, trails, bike lanes and sidewalks that create safer conditions for all road users, residents and visitors, of all ages and abilities. There are several projects elements already included in both the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments Regional Transportation Plan and the SYV Long Range Community Plan, and those are of the highest priority.

Kristi Hundt M.A., L.Ac. grew up commuting to school on her bicycle on the east coast before moving to Boulder, CO where she earned a degree in Environmental Conservation and English Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder. A summer job with the Wildlands Project instilled in her the importance of roadless areas for healthy ecosystems under the guiding priciples of Conservation Biology. In 1998, she moved from Durango, CO to Portland, OR to attend the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine; graduating with a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2001. It was at this time that the Santa Ynez Valley became her home. Currently she owns and operates an Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine business in Los Olivos and resides in Santa Ynez with her family. She has a deep appreciation for this community and feels compelled to make this special place a healthier, more beautiful home for generations to come.
